Happy Earth Day 2011!

Hello my lovelies!

Despite the lack of comments on the previous post (I know, I know! I have to post more consistently if I expect any kind of following!) the makeup seems to have been a hit. I’ve got some more photos of another look w/ other Sugarpill products that I did that have also been languishing for attention…as I said, I’ll get around to posting those fairly soon.

You’d think I’d get to that sooner since I’ve been off this whole past week, however, considering why I’ve been off I think you’ll understand why I haven’t gotten around to it. I’ve been keeping Mr. Entropy company while he recovers from an open inguinal hernia surgery. And ladies, let me tell you, open inguinal hernia surgery is no treat for either one of you! Mr. Entropy is relatively well, however, there’s still a fair amount of pain involved considering he’s been prescribed some hard core pain killers…so that, coupled w/ worrying about how much pain he’s in and making sure he’s been properly fed and watered has made Lady Entropy quite stressy! SO, I think you guys can see why I haven’t had a whole lot of motivation to posting a bunch of things.

Anyways, one of the things I have wanted to share w/ you guys is something I’ve participated in since I discovered this nail polish brand about two years ago. (Holy hell! Has it really been that long since I first cautiously dipped my toes in to the giant ocean of cosmetics???) It’s that time again for Zoya’s Nail Polish Exchange!!!

Zoya Polish Exchange

Here’s their blurb about the Exchange:

Out with the old – in with the new! In honor of Earth Day from April 20, 2011- April 27, 2011(11:59PM EST) Zoya Nail Polish will exchange* your old, out-of-style, unwanted nail color and replenish your nail polish supply with fresh Zoya fashion colors. All you pay is $4.00 per bottle for shipping and processing. Choose from over 300 formaldehyde, toluene, camphor and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) free, long-lasting, award winning, healthy colors to replace your old color! Zoya will properly dispose of your old polish.

If that caught your eye, you should totally check out their blog post here for details on how to get in on this.

As most of you know, I’ve been a huge fan of their Remove+, their Color Lock System, and of course, their polishes! The color range is pretty broad and totally something for everyone with the added benefit of being 3-free (pthalate, formaldehyde, and toluene free). I’ve also found their formula to last for at least a week using the Color Lock System w/o chipping or much tip wear.

I’ve used this opportunity to build up my Zoya collection in the past, and I hope you take advantage of it to safely dispose of your unused/unwanted polish and try out a great polish line for a great price!

Let me know what you guys haul and I’ll share mine!

Sugarpill Cosmetics-Burning Heart Palette

OH, HAIIII THERE BLOG I’VE CONTINUED TO IGNORE FOR MONTHS!

Ok…yeah…I found myself w/ a marginal amount of time so I figured it would be best to take advantage of it to actually type this post up instead of just dropping some photos w/o any commentary…unless you’re not reading this anyways, in which case-too bad! B/c I’m going to blather on and on and make you at least scroll past all this text to get to the photosl HA!

Anywaaaays, I actually bought this palette and three ChromaLust loose shadows (I did a look w/ those today too! If I get enough feedback on this look, I’ll post photos of this face eventually). The three ChromaLust shadows I got were pretty fantastic and I can’t wait to post swatches/looks w/ that. I got Tiara, Magentric, and Royal Sugar. I’m totally sad I didn’t give these a try sooner considering I snagged them during a sale around the holidays late last year. I think I may have to go back and pick up a few more ChromaLust shades and the Sweetheart palette.

So the look below was created w/ the Burning Heart palette available from Sugarpill Cosmetics for $34. All the colors in the palette really intrigued me and I’ve been curious about the quality and ease of application for these shadows. Oh, boy, these did not disappoint! I think I may have found THE Indie cosmetics company to satisfy my need for obnoxiously loud and pigmented eyeshadow. The color payoff is fantastic and the shadows all apply smoothly, not chalky at all!

*Edit (3/27/2011): Oops! Totally called this palette by the wrong name…it’s actually called Burning Heart. Sorry guys!

Eyeko Polishes, Round 1

Hello my lovelies!

It’s been really unfortunate that I’ve been traveling for work so much that I haven’t had time to do decent (and regularly scheduled!) posts since October. Finding a work/life balance has been especially difficult given the travel schedule I’d been on. As the New Year approaches, I’ve been wondering whether that will pose a new opportunity for success in that direction. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure the stage my company is currently in won’t make that easy. I already have another trip overseas looming in early 2011, plus other trips to China again, I’m sure.

The other thing that make this situation unfortunate are all the photos I took just before all the crazy traveling started. For example, the swatches I have in this post are the first set of Eyeko polishes that I ordered. It’s been so long since I got and swatched those, that I already have another small set to swatch and photograph when I get back from the business trip I’m on right now.

Anyways, obviously I’m pretty happy w/ this set since I’ve already gotten another round of Eyeko polishes. If you’re not familiar w/ Eyeko, here’s a little blurb from their site:

Eyeko means LOVE in Japanese and is the brainchild of beauty innovators Max and Nina Leykind. Born in London in 2000, Eyeko has become the go-to-brand for the latest in make-up must haves. Part Brit girl, part Tokyo cutie – Eyeko offers WOW products that define sweet London style.

That pretty much captures the brand pretty well, I think. If you’re a sucker for cute packaging, you’ll totally be a sucker for this brand too! (Oh, and the fact that the formula is pretty decent helps too. These are all three coats w/ NO top coat, b/c that’s how I roll.)

What’d you think?

Why, hello there!

Why yes, yes I did realize I still had a makeup and beauty blog, why do you ask? Oh! Because I haven’t written a word in it since October? Details, details!

Well, those of you who follow me on Twitter (or who have a far better memory than I do), remember that I mentioned I’d be gearing up for a lot of travel at the end of October. Guess what? It was a sh*t ton of travel! I was supposed to be overseas at one of my companies plants in Asia from October 18-28th. I didn’t actually make it home until November 4th. THEN, I got on a plane on the 5th to go to Boston for some training for work. I at least got to take Mr. Entropy w/ me for that trip, so that was at least nice. The week after that, I had to get on another plane to visit a supplier in Oklahoma. That travel schedule was pretty crazy added to the jet-lag I’ve had to recover from resulted in conversations in the evening w/ my husband went like this:

Me: 7:30PM…It’s totally late enough to go to bed, right? Right?!
Mr. Entropy: …Uh, NO.
Me: You sure? It seems late enough to me…
Mr. Entropy: Sure it is-if you’re two years old!

I’ll admit it, he probably had a point, LOL.

Work gave me a little reprieve after that, but I’m on the road again overseas. This time I’ve got a little more time on my hands, so instead of napping (like I probably should be since I’m kinda tired) I’m typing up a new blog post that will post right after this one later in the morning (well, morning for you guys in the eastern time zone and later in the evening for me).

Meanwhile, I leave you w/ these kitty photos!

GO BLUE!

Yeah, I’m jumping on the bandwagon. The long standing rivalry between the University of Michigan (UofM) and Michigan State University (MSU) reaches another showdown this Saturday in the Big House in Ann Arbor, MI.

Being a College of Engineering graduate from U of M, I bleed maize and blue. I thought it only appropriate to do my newest manicure in those colors or at least a somewhat stylized variant for the purposes of nail art.

I’m not super great at nail art, so I purchased some tools from teh internets after much research concerning the fine art of Konad stamping. Basically, there’s a laser etched, stainless steel plate etched with some design. You apply nail polish on to the image, use a plastic card to wipe the excess polish of the plate, take a rubber stamping transfer tool and transfer the image on to the stamp. Once the image has been transferred on to the stamping tool, you align the design w/ your nail and apply the image on the nail, and voila! Nail art!

For the Wolverine inspired fauxnad (not real Konad since that’s a brand name for the tools and plates and I used Bundle Monster image plate #18), I used Orly Royal Navy as the base and a yellow Konad Special Nail Polish that I received from a special Coraline stamping kit. This is maybe the 3rd or 4th time I’ve ever done stamped nail art, so I still have to perfect my technique, hence the uneven application of the yellow flame design. It’s definitely by far easier than if I did it by hand, but certainly takes some getting used to.

Behold! My maize and blue creation!

So this is the nail art I’ll be sporting as I cheer on my alma mater.

GO BLUE!
